Eat Up

Cafes, Clubs, Bars and Bistro’s, Restaurants and Takeaways. Fish Fry’s, Bar B Ques and Famous Progressive Dinners... eating on Norfolk Island is not for the faint-hearted.  We have local produce, bounty from the sea, home grown meats and plenty to choose from when it comes to dining in or out.  So really there is no excuse to go hungry.... and it does not end there!  No!  There is a great wood fired oven bread shop that makes speciality breads.

There is the Saturday growers market that boasts the home grown and home baked goodies to liven up the weekend fare!   This is echoed again on a Sunday, in case you missed out... there are a number of stalls with home baked cakes as well as traditional island cooking.  If wine and cheese is your thing, and you feel like ‘partaking’ – but perhaps not in a full on meal there is a delightful winery on Two Chimneys Road that does a splendid cheese platter in our budding wine district – Steele’s Point.  So let down your guard, be adventurous with you tasted buds and sample our island fare.

Watering Holes

Where do I go to find a drink?  There are a number of places to buy alcohol but perhaps the main outlet is our Bond Store.

The Bond is situated on the Taylors Road, Burnt Pine within the Bi-Centennial Complex.  The incentive to purchase at the Bond is that upon sighting your airline ticket you are entitled to a 30% discount on any purchases of alcohol. (Within the 2.5 litre limit)  However should you find yourself landed on our island out of opening hours it is possible to buy from our friendly clubs.  The RSL, Bowling Club, Leagues Club and Sports and Workers Club (next to the Foodland car park) as well as the Brewery (situated directly opposite the gates to the airport) are all very obliging when it comes to purchasing take away liquor.

If it is liqueurs your heart is set on, Cascade Road is the home to Norfolk Island Liqueurs – ideal gifts aplenty.  It is even possible to sample the island liqueurs in the Tasting Room open 4 days a week, 2-5 pm.  Perhaps wine is your passion – if so head out to Steele’s Point and the Two Chimneys Winery and partake in a cheese platter and local wine – simple sophisticated and charming.
